Farm Field Table Chicken

 Let me start by saying the frugal side of me hates the idea of a $27 chicken. 

Typically a whole chicken in Kroger can cost between 6 and 13 dollars. The $13 chicken is free range and organic. But even still, the chicken is just okay .

We had a great chicken from Fresh Approach once, but they never restocked after that. I crave the really great chicken as we had before. 

Is it worth twice the price of the expensive chicken in Kroger? That's what we are going to find out. 

And then, they offered at check out, a discount on all beef hot dogs. I think my son and hubby would like this. Those are a pound of hot dogs for $8. My suspicion is they will be trying out $2 hot dogs. 

The location is close, its within a couple miles. 



We cooked it spatchcock with a butter herb (parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, salt, pepper) at 375 until to came out to temp. 

Pretty good, maybe better than Kroger. 

3 x better? I'm not so sure. 

Gonna try a Fresh Approach chicken next and compare.

Before breakfast, I punched down the sourdough that was now more than doubled. Then I pushed it into a wide flat shape and rolled it up, tucking it into a loaf pan. I let it sit until after the lunch time baking was done. For lunch we made khachapuri. This was my friend's recipe I mentioned earlier. Since my stand mixer was in the dishwasher I used the breadmaker to mix the dough. When it was ready I asked if the kids wanted one of the dough balls to make their own. Here is what each of us did. Day 10: 40 Days of Lent: Cookie Brownies and Double Chocolate muffins!

Chocolate is my addiction, I must admit. Especially when it's warm. I think about it, dream about it, bake it, make candy with it, eat it after lunch or dinner nearly every day. So when i think about birthday cakes or even the charity I bake for, I'm always looking to make chocolate-something. Or when its Saturday and I have some time on my hands. I think about it then too. :) This week, I had been cruising around the internet, and my sister in law mentioned that it was time for Chocolate muffins. I agreed. I felt tired and turned off the computer. Then, my mind started ticking away. I had recipes, lots of them. I would bet among all those recipes I had a recipe for Chocolate muffins. Hmm. COVID-19 Virus, Day 138

I haven't had much to say lately.  I'm diving deep into why I eat more than I should. I'm taking this online course through Daily OM to learn how to communicate better. You know, once I have something to say.  I bought a shirt that says "Warning Starving Dieter May Bite If Provoked".  I'm taking my martial arts classes, getting into the groove of that.  This week I made tacos.  This is how I do it.  From the top: Paprika, garlic powder, chili powder, onion powder, cumin, and salt on a pound of hamburger.  Chop and cook. Serve with tortillas, tortilla chips, tomatoes, sour cream, cheddar cheese, and lettuce. Sometimes guacamole.  But you gotta get the restaurant style white tortilla chips. Heaven! Today I made chicken and dumplings by request.  First you par cook the chicken.  Which just means cook it til brown on the outside in butter in a pot.  Then I took these out and added chopped onion, celery (out of my garden!) and carrot.  This is mire poix.  Add the c
