COVID-19 Virus Shutdown, Day 87

Oven troubles. 

Our console on the oven has been shoving itself back further and further as we push the buttons. 
Today something fell inside of it when we hit Start. So this currently baking lemon blueberry pound cake may be the last one I make in this oven. (cries a little)

It will be a week before we even make a decision on what we are going to do. And if it's anything like the last one, it will take a month to get a new one. 

Good thing I spent all weekend organizing my cookbook and planned to test out recipes. Sigh. 
I may have to impose on my neighbor, if she has air conditioning. (If not,  I would not even ask... I cant make her house hot in June!)

Stoopid Oven

If it's not one thing it's another. I mean, you know, since like February. Sigh. 

One thing I'm not going to do is complain loudly. Appliances talk to each other. And my dishwasher and fridge have been known to mutiny too. 

I'm going to go enjoy my pound cake, and offer some to the neighbor as a bribe.

Before breakfast, I punched down the sourdough that was now more than doubled. Then I pushed it into a wide flat shape and rolled it up, tucking it into a loaf pan. I let it sit until after the lunch time baking was done. For lunch we made khachapuri. This was my friend's recipe I mentioned earlier. Since my stand mixer was in the dishwasher I used the breadmaker to mix the dough. When it was ready I asked if the kids wanted one of the dough balls to make their own. Here is what each of us did. Son made cheeseless pizza (upper left) I made cheese with butter and green onions (bottom right) This one will get the egg The one on the left is cheese and butter only The one on the right is cheese and brown sugar (it kept unfolding!) A new way of eating - week 1, part 1

Well I got the news yesterday from the Nutritionist.  I'm a bit shocked to be honest. While I'm healthier than I thought, I'm also in need of some changes. And for the next 90 days those changes don't include red meat. While Hubby has another set of rules meaning he gets not only beef but lamb. He has other challenges with his diet, though, that I would not want. We are doing this together, however, we have two different paths to follow. Another shock? I shouldn't be trying to get to my high school weight. I should actually be 10 lbs heavier than that. How about that. Hmm. So anyway, making and eating dinner has it challenges.  I'm picking my way through to figure out how to do it. My go-to cooking method is frying in butter and oil. Hubby can't have any fat added, so I'm having to figure out how to cook without it. Yesterday we had chicken, so I added some Pampered Chef Parmesan garlic spice mix and braising it in water. Writing a cookbook and Coffee Cake

I'm starting another project. I know what you're going to say, she never finishes any of these! Yeah, you are right about that. Except for sometimes, when things really seem to pan out, I end up finishing them. I can't explain why some things do and some don't. My brain is always full of ideas, and usually a new one seems better than the one I'm bogged down in, so I switch to the better idea. Maybe i'm just fickle? What makes the cookbook project special you might ask? Besides the fact that considering how to write a cookbook is overwhelmingly huge, given all the ideas I have around it, one of the appeals is that i have to try out and perfect every recipe. There are 120 of them just for dinners. I have a feeling that's going to take a while. And I get to try them all. That sounds exciting and sort of science-projecty. What makes me think I won't wander off to something else? Food is all encompassing in my life. I always come back around to it.  If...
